REVIEW: Timothy Cameron is a Canadian artist who also goes under the name T.C. Folkpunk, and he has released a mini-album which has some depth. "Every Cloud Has a Sulphur Lining" is - true to the name - both folky and punky, mostly consisting of vocals, guitar, and occasional harmonica. In the tradition of punky folks, or folky punks, T.C.'s record is cynical, with bitingly satirical lyrics. Imagine a cross between Billy Bragg and early Elvis Costello, and you're getting close. Like Bragg, much of the content of the album could be classified under "songs of protest", and like Costello, there's a rough and ready feel to the music that complements the words. As a matter of fact, the music couldn't be simpler and more direct. The guitar style that Cameron prefers is an amplfied acoustic guitar, which produces a metallic and intense sound that's also reminiscent of early punk. The most successful tracks on the record are the rockier ones. "Bread and Circuses" is a lively diatribe against the corporate world, with some clever turns of phrase : "No need to question their integrity/All of the important stuff is on page 3" is T.C.'s screed against the sheep-like manner in which people accept the evil in the world while blocking it out - as John Lennon said "with sex and TV". "Video Video" is perhaps a modern answer to Costello's "Radio Radio". The Costello song was about the control that the radio of the 1970s had over the hearts and minds of listeners; Cameron's song points out that the same can be said for modern television. "Land Of Lukewarm" posits the gray-flannel existence that modern life creates.

Recorded over the course of 4 years, at Harrison Fine's studios, and using his production techniques. This is my favourite songwriter Kelly Burrows' song-- I used to watch her perform in her band The Maevens, around Toronto, in the mid-2000s. Eventually, I ended up the last lead guitarist in my favourite band, before they all went and got married. I always think back to those days. By the grace of the songwriter, here we have "Halfway Again"! Released 01 August 2015 written by Kelly Burrows. produced, recorded, and mixed by Harrison Fine. mastered by Karl Machat. artwork, design, and layout by Taka Tanikawa. The Players: Harrison Fine - electric guitars, keyboards, and synthesizer programming Mhairi Holmer - piano Paul Kolinski - drums Mark Martyre - 2nd acoustic guitar Myke Mazzei - vocals and acoustic guitars Marcus Walker - bass guitar

Derek Mok -- I'm a singer-songwriter based in Toronto, ON, Canada. My voice has been compared with singers like Roy Orbison, Freddie Mercury and Elvis Presley. My original songs take influences from power pop, hard rock, folk rock, alternative rock and even Celtic folk. I get the nickname "Human Jukebox" in many of the places where I play, because of the vast list of eccentric, diverse songs I play live. Some of the non-original songs I've played live: "Bohemian Rhapsody", Queen "The Phantom of the Opera", Michael Crawford & Sarah Brightman "November Rain", Guns N' Roses "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)", The Proclaimers "Return to Innocence", Enigma "Kiss", Prince "Take On Me", a-Ha "Love Will Never Do (Without You)", Janet Jackson

-- Great Expectations was engineered by Harrison Fine of FINE Productions -- Jeff Alan Greenway (j.a.g.) is a singer/songwriter and pianist from Toronto, Canada. His first original EP, "Great Expectations" has received airplay on CBC and Fairchild radio, as well as rave reviews. Johnny Sixstring, of weloverocknpop.com says: "Jeff’s approach very much reminds me of an early Billy Joel . . . he expresses hope, he expresses sadness and his lyrics are saturated with feeling . . . it's a smooth, tender expression [that] strikes for the heart. If you still haven’t heard at least one of [his songs] by the end of the day you’re missing out . . ." William McGuirk, of Scene and Heard says: "JAG plays piano with a theatrical flair in the classic tradition of Rufus Wainwright, Elton John, Queen and Tori Amos. His take on Don't Dream Its Over, originally by Crowded House, is a prime example of his ability to put his personal stamp on to a work" His new album, "Great Expectations" is a blend of pop, rock and jazz featuring some of the best Canadian musical talent in Toronto: Noah Zacharin (guitar) and Mark Zubek (guitar, bass, drums and percussion), as well as many gifted up-and-coming musicians such as Chino De Villa (K.C. Roberts) and Ben Miller (God Made Me Funky). Produced by j.a.g. and mixed and mastered by Mark Zubek, the album took five years to complete during a wild roller-coaster ride that included a major relationship breakup, a serious vocal injury, funding challenges and a crooked New York promoter walking away with part of the album funding. What started out once as a tiny little trio in late 2009 has grown into a core six-piece reggae groove outfit that brings the good vibes. That said, these days it's more like a nine-piece! Four part harmonies, a blend of reggae roots, a touch of afrobeat, and some funky breaks, it's always a rockin' dance party!
