- Alissa Vox Raw dropped by FINE Productions to talk about her music career and her recently recorded album, VOX. Tracked and Mixed at Studio Fine, VOX is a powerful and brilliantly simple seven-song a’capella album that corners many genres and vocal styles.
Get Your Mic On discusses the process of vocal looping, it’s challenges in and out of the studio, the concept of recording and producing an a’capella album and the technical insight needed to become an indie looping songstress. There’s more than meets the eye with this brilliant digital craft.
- Often with no more than a loop pedal and her voice Alissa Vox Raw creates rich tapestries of sound from a multitude of organically built harmonic parts, interwoven together to create full music beds. Old styles of soul, doo-wop and blues with a contemporary twist are reinterpreted through new technologies. A variety of other instruments (i.e. electric kalimba, electric guitar, synth, djembe, clave, cajon, and other percussive instruments) are also sometimes used and expressed in new ways to create a unique sound that is both edgy and ethereal.
- Toronto’s Harrison Fine of FINE Productions doesn’t just usher you into the studio and produce you. He wants to know what makes you tick and why you create the music you do. The award-winning producer, engineer, mixer and songwriter wants to get personal. A recording artist himself — presently readying a new electronic solo project under the alias Opus Eyes— Harrison is well-connected in the songwriter and indie music community, voted Best Producer in Toronto from NOW magazine.
